iPad Problems After iOS Update. A lot of different issues have been
experienced by different users after the iOS 4.2 update. This article
aims to compile the different iPad problems after iOS 4.2 update and offer solutions for them. Each solution will be sorted out from each problem, so here are the different iPad problems encountered so far and their corresponding solutions:
Problem # 1: iPad’s performance becomes slower after the update.
Everything is great. Your upgrade
installation went really well, and nothing crashed after the upgrade.
You have tried all your apps and everything seems to be working well,
except with the fact that it is working a lot slower than usual.
Your iPad itself could resolve the
performance problems after a few minutes or so, but it still can’t then
here are some simple solutions to try. First, you can perform hard
resets. This is done by holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for
15 seconds or more. Sometimes, two hard resets could solve the issue.
Now it could sometimes take time for your device to reboot so if it is
already taking a minute, relax. Sometimes a hard reset does take a few
minutes.
If performing two hard resets doesn’t do
the trick, then you can try the next solution: free up some space. The
update might need more free space to operate properly.
If it still doesn’t work then do you have
any opened unused windows? If there are, then just close them. Open iOS
applications like Safari could also eat up your memory.
Another reason is not just memory but
other options as well, like Spotlight. You can do this by going to
Settings > General > Home Button > Spotlight. Freeing up your
iPad from all options by simply turning them off could do wonders with
the performance speed.
If worse comes to worst and all the
options failed, then the last options would be to restore your iPad, and
to downgrade to iOS 3.2 – which could entail losing all of your
contacts and other data.
Problem # 2: The update just doesn’t finish.
Sometimes the problem is not after the
download. Sometimes the problem is the downloading itself. Some users
encounter a freeze while the update is installing, and if you find
yourself staring at your iPad for the last hour or so and it’s still
stuck on 93% or the progress bar is still there, then you’re
encountering the same problem.
There are just two known solutions for
this. First is to simply wait out until the installation is finished,
and a second known solution is to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
Problem # 3: Download and installation
went swell, but iPad apps constantly crashing now, as well as not being
able to access the internet.
Okay, take a deep breath. This happens
when you download a corrupted update, so uninstall it immediately and go
to the official Apple website and download your desired update from
there. Hopefully that solves your final problem.
Aside from that, there are other problems
with other apps crashing after the update as well, but the problems
seem to root from corrupted updates. There is no best solution with
these problems because each issue vary from iPad to iPad, but there is a
best tip to practice before every upgrade: BACK-UP.
